I have loved words since my childhood. Always a voracious reader, it was inevitable that I ended up with a master's degree in English literature. I have seven years of experience teaching literature and humanities to college and university students, helping them learn to love literature and hone their skills in writing about it. I also had the privilege of teaching English online to young students in China, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I have worked as a beta reader and unofficial editor for my daughter, who published her first nonfiction book with a major publisher at the age of 19! I have also served as substantive editor for an independent author who has published a fiction novel as well as related nonfiction material.
I have a certification from Proofread Anywhere and have completed the Editorial Freelancers Association's courses in beginning and intermediate copyediting.
As a proud homeschool mom, I had many opportunities to teach writing to middle school and high school students in various co-op settings. And, because editing and proofreading are things I can't help doing, I have had lots of volunteer experience helping friends, coworkers, bosses, and others make the best impression possible in writing.
I'm a native Arizonan, transplanted to central Florida. I'm passionate about animals (currently we have a cat and ten chickens), am an avid birdwatcher and a would-be gardener. I love to bake just about anything, especially if it involves chocolate.
