copyediting

Is it for you?

Copyediting addresses writing at the technical level of grammar, punctuation, internal consistency, and adherence to a particular style. It is the next stage after line editing in the editorial process. There will be some overlap between a line edit and a copyedit, since a line editor may point out some technical issues of grammar or punctuation if they are obvious. If you're happy with your writing but need someone to ensure your work is technically perfect, you need a copyeditor.

What to expect

Copyediting works at the level of individual words to ensure technical correctness. A copyedit includes

  • correcting spelling
  • ensuring accurate grammar
  • checking syntax
  • correcting punctuation
  • making sure hypenation, numerals, capitalization, and fonts are consistent
  • flagging ambiguous or incorrect facts

What will it cost?

Rates are subject to a review of the project, after which a quote will be offered.
